Special Prosecutor Appointed

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters asked that a Special Prosecutor be appointed to review the alleged improprieties in the 2015 Colerain Township Trustee race.  The Ohio Elections Commission received 19 complaints from residents upset that falsified information was distributed on Election Day.  The Elections Commission has stated they do not have legal jurisdiction on the matter.

Prosecutor Deters commented “Our office has heard from numerous individuals who filed complaints with the Ohio Election Commission.  In the abundance of caution, I asked the Common Pleas Court to appoint a Special Prosecutor to handle the investigation and any subsequent actions on the matter.”

Common Pleas Court Judge Nadine Allen has appointed Patrick J. Hanley to review the allegations.  Mr. Hanley is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio.
