Arthur Poole celebrated his birthday by getting drunk and stoned. Not content with merely getting intoxicated, Poole decided to break into a random home so he could rape someone. The home he broke into belonged to a mother and her twelve-year-old daughter.

Poole first tried to rape the mother. He lay on top of her and tried to take her clothes off while he groped at her breasts and vagina. When she tried to fight him off, Poole beat her.

The noise awoke the twelve-year old. When Poole saw her, he stopped trying to rape the child's mother and turned his attacks onto the child. The child was raped four times. While the child's mother tried to stop him, Poole overpowered her every time. During the course of these attacks, Poole threatened both victims with a knife and a gun.

Even worse, when the mother tried to run to get the police, she was mistaken by the police as Poole and was shot.

The officer who arrested Poole, Officer Gary Dudley of the Cincinnati Police Department, noted that Poole gave multiple accounts of what happened. He first acted very arrogantly and completely denied everything. He then claimed that he had been invited into the house. Finally, he claimed that he had been at a nearby party but that he did not commit any of the crimes. The officer noticed that Poole stank of alcohol, but that Poole was in complete control of himself.

Poole randomly picked a home and broke into it with the intent of raping someone. He ended up attempting to rape a woman and successfully raping a child four times. Officer Dudley strongly believed that Poole should spend the rest of his life in prison for his heinous crimes. This office agrees. Under no circumstances should Poole be granted any type of early release.
