Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Amanda Marksberry (DOB 3/21/83). Marksberry is now indicted on 1 count of Aggravated Murder (Special Felony), 2 counts of Murder (Special Felony) and 1 count of Felonious Assault (Felony 2). If convicted of all charges, she faces the possibility of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Marksberry is charged with the December 5th murder of Kevin Smith.
On December 5th, Cincinnati Police responded to the 4300 block of Eastern Avenue at approximately 7:40 p.m. When they arrived, they found Smith suffering from a gunshot wound. Smith was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he later died.
The Hamilton County Coroner ruled his death a homicide as the result of a gunshot wound.
Marksberry and Smith, who were acquainted, argued prior to the shooting.
Marksberry’s son, Brandon Marksberry, is currently charged with the aggravated vehicular homicide of Cincinnati attorney Steve Adams.
Prosecutor Deters commented, “This was not a random shooting as we know that Mr. Smith was the intended victim.
Sadly, it is not without precedent that we have two family members facing homicide charges at the same time for different offenses.”
