Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters comments on cases during the coronavirus

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters commented on the importance of keeping the public informed about criminal cases during the coronavirus.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters commented, “Although the coronavirus has created some limitations, including a resumed pause on jury trials, we are continuing to handle criminal cases and working hard to resolve as many cases as possible.

If you are a victim of crime, rest assured that your case has not been forgotten.  My victim advocates and assistants are working to remain in contact with victims and to keep them updated on the progress of their cases.  If any victim has a question or concern during this time, they should contact their victim advocate or assigned prosecutor immediately.  If a victim is not sure who is assigned to their case, they can call 513-946-3000, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm.  It is my pledge that all calls will be returned within 24 hours.

I take our responsibility to victims personally.  I created our victim advocate division over 20 years ago to make sure victims always knew what was happening with their cases and had their questions answered as quickly as possible.  And I worked hard to give victims of crime the equal rights they deserve because being a victim of crime is stressful enough without being left in the dark by the justice system.  I will not allow that stress to also include wondering what the status of a case is while we all navigate this pandemic together.”
