Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters commented on the sentencing for Ke’von Smith.
Smith pled to 1 count of Voluntary Manslaughter (F1), 1 count of Felonious Assault (F1) and 1 count of Having Weapons While Under Disability (F3).
On January 18, 2017 Smith and others entered a residence in the 2200 block of Burnet Avenue and shot 39-year-old Hudson “Alex” Thompson and his 9-year-old daughter Alexandrea “Sissy” Thompson. Another minor child was made to stay on the first floor of the home and threatened with death if they screamed.
Mr. Thompson survived his injuries but Alexandrea died as a result of her wound. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide as a result of a gunshot wound to the back, perforating her heart.
Today, Judge Sylvia Hendon sentenced Smith to 18 years in prison. Smith is also required to register as a violent offender for life.
Prosecutor Deters commented, “I want to thank my assistants who tried this case, Dave Prem and David McIlwain. It is tragic that a little girl lost her life due to senseless violence.”
