Wayne Reed was convicted of the murder of Cincinnati Police Officer Chuck Burdsall in July, 1978. Officer Burdsall gave his life while faithfully serving the citizens of Cincinnati and the State of Ohio. Officer Burdsall had been dispatched to a convenience store around midnight to check on a report of a possible robbery in progress. He pursued a vehicle out of the parking lot and stopped it. When the officer ordered the occupant out of the car, the driver, Reed, got out and shot and killed Officer Burdsall. A civilian riding with the police officer in an auxiliary capacity, was also wounded in the incident.
The defendant is up for early parole due to the recent Hall v. Hageman decision
