Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announces Indictment of Colerain’s Joseph Chevrolet Shooter

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announced the indictment of Rashid Dewees (DOB 12/02/2003) for the January 30th shooting incident at Joseph Chevrolet on Colerain Avenue.

Dewees has been indicted with:

  • Felonious Assault (F2)
  • Felonious Assault (F2)
  • Inducing Panic (F5)
  • Aggravated Menacing (M1)
  • Inducing Panic (M1)

On January 30, 2025, Colerain Township Police responded to reports of an active shooter at Joseph Chevrolet. Upon arrival, officers observed people fleeing the building and heard additional gunfire. Officers entered the building, located Dewees inside the showroom, and took him into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.


Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich commented:

"Gun violence—whether in workplaces, homes, or public spaces—creates chaos and fear in our community. While it is fortunate that no one was physically harmed in this case, the defendant’s actions endangered lives. My office will always work to ensure accountability and protect our community."


The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office extends gratitude to the Colerain Police Department and to the more than 50 witnesses and employees of Joseph Chevrolet who cooperated with officers and detectives during this process.
