Charles Henry Orr

A3162100

On a Friday night in October of 1994, Orr was living with his ex-wife, Delores, when he savagely beat her to death. Police responded to a 911 call made by Delores’ 10 year-old son who told the operator that his father was beating his mother and that she was bleeding. Upon their arrival, Orr admitted to beating his ex-wife and told police to have the ambulance hurry because he didn’t want to get arrested for murder. Officers found Delores on the floor of the master bedroom, unresponsive and covered in blood. She was transported to the hospital, but never regained consciousness and died the next day. The cause of death was a combination of swelling on her brain and excessive internal bleeding that doctors were unable to stop.

It is impossible to tell how many times Orr struck Delores, but the facts indicate a prolonged, sadistic attack. Orr was wearing a large ring when he repeatedly punched Delores in the face. He broke her jaw in numerous places and officers recovered 7 of her teeth, including their roots, from the bed. The swelling on her brain was akin to what doctors find in a severely shaken baby. She suffered numerous facial fractures. In addition to the injuries to face and head, Orr beat her about the torso so hard as to cause the internal bleeding doctors could not stop. Perhaps most disturbing is the fact that Orr beat Delores into unconsciousness, stopped, washed his hands in the bathroom sink, and then returned to the bedroom to continue beating her unconscious body.

The prolonged savagery of his assault demonstrates that Orr is a sadistically violent man that the citizens of Hamilton County must be protected from. The Hamilton County Prosecutors Office strongly opposes early release for Charles Henry Orr.
