Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Kadeem Kelley (DOB 1/26/92) for 1 count of Involuntary Manslaughter (Felony 1), 1 count of Corrupting Another with Drugs (Felony 2) and 1 count of Trafficking in a Fentanyl-Related Compound (Felony 5) in the March 26, 2019 death of Satwinder Singh. If convicted of the charges, he faces the possibility of 20 years in prison.

Singh was an inmate in the Hamilton County Justice Center as a result of charges for the December 30,, 2018 crash that killed 2-year-old Dameon Turner. Singh was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck headed westbound on Hopple Street when he drove off the right side of the road and onto the sidewalk striking and killing Dameon.

Kelley, who has a lengthy criminal record, was being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center on charges of Escape and Weapon Under Disability.

Kelley worked as a porter in the Justice Center. His job responsibilities included cleaning and  serving food to the inmates. As a result of his job, he had access to different areas of the Justice Center and the inmates which gave him the opportunity to supply the deadly fentanyl to Singh.

Kelley was previously charged with 1 count of Possession of a Fentanyl-Related Compound (Felony 4) in case B 1901822 for having the drugs he supplied to Singh. He was convicted on that charge and sentenced to 15 months in prison where he is today.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil commented, “I am proud of our Heroin Task Force for their outstanding work. Illegal drug smuggling is a constant battle inside the Hamilton County Justice Center and other jails throughout the State of Ohio. Our deputies are working extremely hard inside the facility to prevent these types of tragic events, and we will continue our efforts fighting this epidemic inside the jail and outside. We understand the importance of utilizing our assets to our advantage to ensure the deputies and inmate population are safe.”
