On July 10, 2023, Dixon and Brown drove to Plainfield Road in Silverton. The suspects fired approximately 28 shots into the home located on 6031 Plainfield. Inside of the home was Laticia Copeland, her 9-year-old granddaughter Da’Miyah Barton Pickens, and Da’Miyah’s 9-year-old friend, M.G.

M.G. was grazed by a bullet, but survived her injuries.

Da’Miyah was struck by a bullet in the chest. First responding deputies attempted life saving measures which continued until Deer Park Fire arrived on scene. Da’Miyah was transported to Jewish Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Upon investigation of the crime scene, numerous shell casings were located in the roadway and yard in front of the house. Investigators from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department located both 9mm and .762 shell casings at the scene.

During the course of the investigation, suspects were developed and were placed under surveillance.

On July 11, 2023, Williams was observed by plain-clothes officers placing a rifle bag in the trunk of his vehicle before driving away with Dixon in the vehicle. While under surveillance, Williams left the scene at a high rate of speed – running a red light and crashing into another car. The operator of the other vehicle was seriously injured.

Williams and Dixon then fled on foot. While fleeing, Dixon discarded a loaded 9mm hand gun.

Police also located a loaded SKS rifle in Williams’ trunk. Both firearms were later determined to have been used in the Plainfield Road shooting.

Dixon is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on $2.5 million bond.

Brown is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on $2 million bond.

Williams is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on $50,000 bond.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers commented, “There are no words to describe the depravity of what these men did.

I don’t give a damn what their motives were. They shot indiscriminately into a house – injuring one little girl and killing another.
